ADHD
The acronym stands for Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. (American Psychiatric Association: Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition. Arlington, VA., American Psychiatric Association, 2013.)
However, we are under a new paradigma in which ADHD is understood as a neurological diversity in which the human brain:
- manage the dopamine in a different way
- faces challenges with its executive functions
“Research has made it increasingly clear that ADHD is not essentially a behavior disorder and not limited to childhood years.”
Brown, Thomas E. (2013) A New Understanding of ADHD in Children and Adults: Executive Functions. P. xiv
